BAH HUMBUG!

nobody even wished me a happy kwanzaa. oh well.. will just have to settle for xmas greetings.

gonna be realy glad when this holiday slow down is over. heard alot of people are having a hard time this year compared to last - credit cards maxed out from paying for gas when it hit $3.oo a gallon. glad i have a gas sipper.

wednesday was about what you'd expect: pool, wet t-shirt, people off for the holidays, and nice new talent for the wet t-shirt contest cause we bumped up the prize money.

thursday must have been the start of the weekend for alot of ft. hood. we had a much better crowd than what i thought it was going to have been, and a really surprising number of people in the building at 2. could have stayed open til 3. probably should have.

friday... nothing to write home about. especially at midnite (more on that later).

saturday - christmas eve - slowest saturday we've had in a long time. people heading out for last minute shopping, last minute travel, and being broke... but we were still open til 2:30. SOME of us didnt wrap presents, so we gave the employees a half hour off early... then managed to take forever to clean the bar..

SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY!!! slow start to it, but once it got goin... nice!

so coming up next weekend is the new years eve thing. i'm gonna need to eat my wheaties...
and yell at someone who is just not following the learning curve. being good at what you do has nothing to do with having an ego. if you're not filling the floor when we're playing a power set, then you're just not doing your job. two weeks in a row. only saving grace friday was that they was DRUNK and would dance to pretty much anything. never mix a set, and dont look up at the floor - if you cant look up and gauge the building and SEE that they aint having a good time, then dont bother playing music in a place where it matters the most.

putting soap box away now.

HAPPY HANGOVERS EVERYONE!

competition is good for you (us anyway)

interesting weekend?. mostly.

actually the entire week was kinda weird. we've had the start of the xmas slow-down and people spending all their money on other stuff besides us, a new club opening, and really COLD weather, and a few other odds and ends happening. we never close - but we did last wednesday cause the weather was so bad. thursday was actually kind of enjoyable. friday was just plain odd - we couldnt tell that a new club had opened except for people coming over and complaining about it. saturday was much busier than expected. and then there was sunday...blah.. and blah again.

******

so a week later we're having fun with the xmas slowdown - everyone broke and not going out as much because they're buying christmas presents. oh joy. still, we've had some pretty decent nights, so not too many complaints. the rest of the b.s. thats going on is all internal, but we're working on it.

maybe i'll get my shit together and post more often. hope so anyway.

Wednesday, December 07, 2005

saturday was about what you'd expect, sunday had cheaper bar drinks finally - 1.00. but hardly anyone dancing, and wednesday.. well.

CLOSED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER. its nasty outside and i'm crawling back into a blanket.

screwed

yep. thats what they are.

thanksgiving weekend was typical for us except for saturday. not as big crowd with big concert going on at expo center - some guy called Pat "the sellout" Green. still had a good sized crowd tho. sunday was still sunday.

so wednesday we got a little confused. there i was thinking i was having fun at work again. was just gas. not really gas.. just someone staying home sick. still, we had a decent enough pool tourny and wet t- shirt. one minor scuffle and that was it.
thursday - i may never play another new song in the club again. IF YOU'RE GONNA ASK ME TO PLAY DIFFERENT MUSIC AND NEW MUSIC THEN GET YOUR ASS OUT ON THE FLOOR AND DANCE TO IT.

who me?.. bitter? noooo

and the compassionate employee award goes to BRIAN.

new club is supposed to open tonight cross town. aint gonna hold my breath about what happens. mostly past caring about it one way or another.

Thursday, November 24, 2005

guess who was thinking with "mr. happy" again...

not me.

i was having a nice relaxing sunday. oh well.

pre-turkey day wednesday - nice. damn good crowd for the night before thanksgiving. not much in the way of problems until after 2. probably could have stayed open till 3, but employees had birds to stuff and whatnot. pool tournament was decent again, and the wet t-shirt actually had some new talent and it was pretty good to look at for the most part. dance sets were fun, and even the country dancers were having fun.

we'll chalk it up as a win.

gotta run - bird in the oven.

Sunday, November 20, 2005

ahhh.. saturday.

believe it or not. i actually had fun at work tonight. weird. date night start to the evening, but started to fill up the closer to 10pm we got. by 10:30 they had had enough to drink to be ready to dance, and they did that for the rest of the night. dance floor at midnight was ridiculous - rail to rail was nothing but people crammed in shakin' their asses. they were even dancing pretty packed in for the country music for most of the night as well. everyone was having a real good time and we didnt even have a fight until almost 3.

in other developments...

might have a problem eventually with where they added the second big screen projector; the screen is right over the booth and people keep stopping to watch sports and end up blocking traffic. will have to keep an eye on it and wait i guess.

thanksgiving is coming up this thursday - i'm just gonna pretend it aint.

miss ya bro.

the good, the bad, and the fugly

the good was wednesday of course, and the bad was thursday (even though it wasnt really that bad - just seemed like it) and the fugly was in the bar.

i dont usually get to see many of the customers unless they actually come up to the booth when i'm not busy, and tonight i wish one of them had waited till i wasnt in the booth to ask for a song. insert the worst ugly joke you can and then tell it twice - you might come close to what they looked like. DAMN!

typical friday night start, but at least they were in a mood to dance. still training up the new guy - gotta get him used to our way of thinking - "unlearn you must young jedi." gonna take awhile.

other than that pretty much a normal friday night. didnt even have a fight that i could see. lets see what happens tomorrow night.

Thursday, November 17, 2005

just another wednesday night...

pretty much. non-dancing shrubs in a sausage fest.

slow start to the night, but that was okay, i got to play with my new toys and update the music inventory. by the way if you're looking for headphones YOU CANT HAVE MINE!!! thanks boss, needed these (Sony MDR V700)

pool and wet t-shirt went off okay, but didnt really feel that good party mood tonight. everyone was havin a good time for the most part, but damn if they just werent in the mood to dance unless they really wanted to hear the song. sometimes not even then.

still trying to train the new guy up to speed. and i do mean speed- he's gotta work on gettin stuff done fast. talking so he was understood would be a plus too, but we're workin on it.

rant at ya later.

Saturday, November 12, 2005

where was i?

lets see... where i was, was where i was supposed to be.. everybody else could go take a flying ... never mind

its been an interesting week so far - wednesday was fairly decent, thursday was shockingly good (4 day weekend - go figure), and friday was mostly fun. aside from the disappearing dj that is. gotta love it when you get hired for reliability. so there i was in the booth, sinus's flowing like water when they werent putting enough pressure on the inside of my head to make it explode, havin more fun than a barrel full of rabid weasels. tomorrow night - MEDICATION!!!!!

oh yeah did i tell you what happened on thursday - heheheh. not gonna.

Monday, November 07, 2005

dammit... he did it again!

so for a while i was gettin better at posting more often but its been one of those weeks and then some.

last weekend he put in his 2 week notice - he got as far as friday. they've already hired a second dj, someone who's done it in the past but is out of practice. this oughta be fun. anyone remember the last 2 dj's they hired who had previous experience? uh huh.

thursday was about what you'd expect, but after 1am it was just plain sad. i was surprised we were open after 2.

friday and saturday were pretty good nights even with "capt. fun" making an appearance. average start-ups with a decent enough early crowd, lots of dancing, no fights that i could see. all in all a pretty good weekend

and then there was sunday. glad i brought a book, even tho it was kinda confusing - everyone was staying in the front of the bar and not the back for a change.

where we goin from here? dunno. how long is it gonna take to get there? dunno. we'll just have to wait and see wont we?...

dunno.

Thursday, November 03, 2005

and then there was what?

stress. lots and lots of stress.

more people in this wednesday than last, but still... could have been much better. 8 ball tourny went along like normal, but we almost didnt have the wet t-shirt contest. we get too many late comers who cant make up their minds, and they're usually the ones who win. other than that, we had a normal wednesday that felt like a monday to me. i dunno what they sit up there and think about in that office but apparently its not about making money or customer relations.

speaking of customer relations - i need some. i've come to have this nice little "hate - hate relationship" with our customers. i suppose i should be more accomodating to them.. but most of them couldnt even spell the word. know what i mean? it's really difficult to be nice and friendly when you've got people asking you to do things as a joke for one person when you've got 1,000 people trying to dance and have a good time, and the same applies when someone wants to hear a song just cause they think its a good one, or they heard it on the radio, or whatever, and then they get cranky cause i dont. really makes it hard to stand there with a smile on your face and do that. so i dont. i listen, i might nod, and i write it down. if i play it i play it, and if i dont.. i dont. leave me alone people... i got a job to do. unless of course, you're planning on de-stressing me when i get home.. or your home.

S.F.W.

hard to care about what you're doing at work if no one at work cares what you're doing...

so friday rolls along and we pretty much have a friday. no fuss - minimum of muss. dance sets were pretty decent, crowd stayed pretty late. had a headache for a little while, but had my handy dandy little bottle of tylenol. might be makin a few changes at work soon.. not 100% sure yet. if we don't we're gonna be in trouble for awhile. then again, if things work out then i wont have to worry about it much longer. more about that later.

saturday. lots of people wearing their halloween costumes early. some good, some bad, and one spectacular that still has me drooling. mmm... judy... just aint right doin that to me. what am i saying.. of course it is! i'd post a picture but havent asked permission yet. lots of drama and too many cooks in the kitchen. happens every year with the time change. no one wants to make one final decision as to what we're doing so we all end up cranky. me?.. i didnt care. i was just there to push buttons.

sunday - i love it when a play falls apart. $500 constume contest, and way too many guys dressed in drag, and not enough women dressed, or undressed as it were, not much in the way of original thought for most of the costumes. didnt matter much as we knew what was gonna happen anyway. sexiest costume and most original costume for the categories. and of course, the most original costume in the building did not win. fun and games all over again, and me pushing buttons.

if i'm still here by new year's i'm gonna be shocked. its gettin bad people.

Thursday, October 27, 2005

shoulda had my wheaties..

"no energy" that was the buzzword of the day for wednesday

for some reason or other i just couldnt get goin. and apparently the customers couldnt either. sure we had our usual crowd of dancers and regulars, but the other ones just werent in the mood or somethin. hard to get them dancing when they just dont feel like it. frustrating.
and then there was...
thursday was more of the same let down spread out over the last few months, only more so cause of the weather change. hard to have a hot legs contest when they arent wearing skirts, shorts, or dresses. we could have had the contest, but captain fun struck again and said no. speaking of captain fun, if your club is finally jumpin' after 230am.. WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU TURN THE HOUSE LIGHTS ON TO KILL THE PARTY AND CHASE PEOPLE OUT!!!!
...and they wonder why i get stressed out at work.
i have GOT to start pushing for a paid vacation.

Tuesday, October 25, 2005

fall,... fell

first cold snap of the fall and everyone stayed home and watched the world series or something.
the high point of the night was when the bartenders gave a mini-shower to one of the other ones who is expecting. got her good by telling her she had to come into work and then giving her a really nice stroller/car seat combo full of baby stuff. made her cry even.
other than that it was pretty much me and 30 other people sittin around talkin most of the night. gotta get more people in there on sundays. 30 people in a building that holds 1100 looks pretty damn empty.

Sunday, October 23, 2005

"Foosball is de devil"

i know he's a fan, and i understand that the Longhorns could very well be headed for a national championship - but 2 hours late for work because of it? oh well.. not like they're gonna fire him.
saturday night wasnt bad at all. slow start, mostly because the weather yesterday was absolutly beautiful. if it hadnt been for that really bright thing in the sky, i would have spent it outside sleeping. the good news was that they were in a mood to dance to almost anything i played. threw in some disco n funk for first dance set before i switched to some recent stuff. pretty much gave everyone something to dance to - had a couple out there shakin' their groove thangs in Depends. so sometime after 11pm, my erstwhile associate comes to work. pretty much sober even! i kept goin on the country - he played the dance sets. worked out well. time to get ready for a fun filled sunday night.

Saturday, October 22, 2005

like i'm getting paid to do this

mr. punctuality.. thats me.

drawbacks and t-backs:

wednesday was not too bad, but could have been better. still managed to do okay with pool tournament and wet t-shirt contest. saw some spectacular thongs and what they were pretending to cover (yeah.. the job sucks sometimes...heheheh), and then muddled through the rest of the night. dont ask me why but i just wasn't feelin very wednesday.

thursday- still thursday, even if we did have some damn good legs in the contest.

friday - high school football season - crowd shows up later but they stay pretty damn late too so its okay. had us some serious old school tonight: herbie hancock, timex social club, slick rick, etc. with any luck i'll get more than 3 hours sleep before having to get up tomorrow. kinda wore out and caffienated. sleepy time kids...

Saturday, October 15, 2005

the long road to recovery

still felt like i'd been drained, folded, spindled, and mutilated when i went back to work wednesday. couldnt work up the energy to do much, and i really could have used it. not much of a crowd for a wednesday but alot of the customers were waiting on paychecks to hit the bank, and more troops were getting rotated out and off on humanitarian missions. we still had the wet t-shirt and pool tournament so its all good.

thursday - S.S.D.D.

friday - started out kinda slow but we had a really steady stream of people coming in most of the night. not too many problems to talk about, but ...BUT... BIG DADDY'S B-DAY started at midnight and tomorrow should be pretty damn interesting. better be anyway.

Monday, October 10, 2005

home sick... and i do mean sick!

7 years and i've only been home sick from work a few times. pretty much saw it coming - there's a pretty icky bug going round. wonder who's gonna get it next.

so how did the week go?... wednesday wasnt too bad, we managed to have the wet t-shirt contest and pool tourny. thursday still sucked, but we still had a good hot legs contest. friday was pretty decent, saturday was a bit slower but still okay.

not too much to really report from the last week, it all went by too fast. other than a TABC sting going on in the area that ended with a few arrests (customers - not employees), we still have the same internal b.s. goin on.

gotta go - tylenol, immodium, etc. await.

Saturday, October 08, 2005

so really, what kind of music do we play?

this is what we played starting around 10pm on friday sept. 30. the first 2 hours of the night dont count - thats just the warm up leading up to prime time in the club.
and trust me on this one - the crowd loved it. we still had about 300 people on the dance floor when we started playing the belt buckle shining stuff at the end of the night.

friday, saturday, sunday.

friday - not bad at all until someone got stupid. i'll give you 3 guesses who that was. the rest of the night was an uphill fight till we closed. customers having fun, employees having none. life goes on.
saturday - slow start and slow night for a saturday. didnt care, cause i was still pissed off from the night before. ("Will no one rid me of this troublesome priest?") i just didnt care enough to do any real work, or to play music anyone wanted to dance to.
sunday - we need a hook, a draw to bring people in. the crap we got now just aint cuttin it. i read alot, and didnt care. hard to give a rats ass whats goin on if there's no one there to play to.
things need to change, and real soon.

ah.. true words of advice.

Leave the DJ Alone by Rob Wegner

January 2004
During the 80's, I worked at a popular Phoenix nightclub called Zazoo. During its first two years, the club enjoyed an international reputation (i.e., a sister club was opened in London) that even lured Madonna to its Phoenix dance floor. However, like many nightclubs, the numbers started to decline over time and the owners were starting to ask questions.
To determine the cause of the club's decline, the owners hired a well-known nightclub consultant. In addition to his consulting fee (which ran into the thousands), the owners paid for the consultant's hotel and transportation.
The consultant spent one week analyzing every segment of the club and its employees. He spent a considerable amount of time in the DJ booth; often looking over our shoulders and taking notes. As far as the DJs' performance, he never indicated an opinion. In fact, we were rather concerned that he was going to criticize the DJ's in his final report.
After the week passed, it was time to hear the consultant's report. The owners, managers, DJ's, and department heads (such as head bartender, head bouncer, etc.) attended the meeting. After discussing other departments, it was time to hear the consultant's opinion of the DJ's. It went a little like this:

"You have great DJ's and they do a good job. The problem - as far as they're concerned - is that your managers come into the booth and talk down to them. It puts them in a bad mood and it's reflected in their performance. If the DJ's are not into it, then your dance floor is not going to be into it. Tell your managers to save their remarks [to the DJ's] for after the club closes."
In other words, the club's owners paid thousands of dollars to be told (among other things) "leave the DJ alone."

DJ Temperament
On the flip side, there are temperamental DJ's that might misinterpret the consultant's opinion. In clubs, our job revolves around pleasing patrons/dancers, managers, and owners (and in some cases other employees). If there's anything to be learned from this month's tip, it's the knowledge that our state of mind is reflected on the dance floor. Do not allow petty criticism to disrupt your mood and/or performance.
(It should be noted that sales improved after the consultant's recommendations were implemented).

wha?

(if you think its bad now - just you wait. puter needs major repair or replacement. am lucky enough now to be online.)

pretty decent weekend and even a kinda fun sunday pretty much wraps up the latest news. today was mostly blah tho. we didnt wake up till late, and had a nice little to-do at the back bar. no major injuries to report. did see some nice chests for the wet t-shirt contest. almost time for thursday again. dont wanna go. oh well. we'll see

Friday, August 12, 2005

thursday... again

not a bad turnout for a thursday, but we could've done better. first dance set on thursday - always a headache, and tonight was no different. but should have expected it considering i didnt have anyone on the dance floor till after 10:00. enough to drive me to drink or smoke or something. moving right along to the second set - the most confused white people in history. white people will do the electric slide to anything. Electric Slide, Joy n' Pain, The Breaks, The Double Dutch Bus, Sweet Dreams Are Made of This, and Venus. these idiots were doing the slide through all of it. kinda sick if you ask me.
the hot legs contest was pretty good, and the oldies set was fun too, but after that it was attack of the stupid drunk people at the booth. at least by then i didnt care what happened with the rest of the night. we even closed close enough to 3 that i didnt want to kick anyone. and how often does that happen? not very.
guess its time for bed. long day to round out a long week.

Thursday, August 11, 2005

no.. really, its not my fault

more puter issues.

last weekend was typical packed friday and saturday and slow on sunday. not much to report about it all other than that we had fun. even the drama wasnt that bad.

note to self - Xenadrine... ration it. sleep is a good thing every now and then

Friday, August 05, 2005

someone sacrifice a chicken.

prostrate thyself before the mighty altar of Gates and fear. i almost got a chance to get online the other day and "poof" went the 'puter. things is gettin desperate with this 4 year old hunk of junk.

wednesday was kinda odd, but mostly in a good way. not too busy, not too slow. just enough to have a good time and a pretty decent wet t-shirt contest. not even that much stupidity to deal with.

thursdays are apparently back to normal. except for the hot legs contest - niiiice! if the rest of the customers werent hanging out at the other bars cause it's cheaper to drink there they'd be having a pretty good time and seeing some spectacular legs.

time to go rest up for friday...

Sunday, July 31, 2005

now accepting donations...

CAUSE I NEED A NEW FREAKIN' COMPUTER!!!... thats why!

its been down for awhile, but what do you want, its four years old. more if you count the time it spent in a warehouse.

things not changed much, except we just keep gettin more and more out there. "kung fu fighting" indeed. we'll get back to that later.

went shopping, got music, played music, bought headphones, broke headphones, bought more headphones, new headphones suck... gonna buy more. LCD screens suck. too fragile.
and i'm depressed - we havent had nekkid women in the booth all week. we must be slipping or something.

other than that nothing new to add in right now.

with any luck the puter will stay on longer than a week and i'll be able to post again. we'll see.

Friday, July 22, 2005

i'm just here for the ride i guess

thursday again. love working there sometimes, but damn i wish they'd get off this complacency kick. there's no such thing as not having competition - you compete against yourself if you have to just to keep your edge.

slow start to the night, but it did pick up a little after awhile. first set of country was me not giving a rat's ass, and the first dance set.. mmm.. Wendy. its' amazing how one woman can make a night worthwhile. sucks that she's not single. hips on a swivel and a body that moves like that, just cant be legal. or something.

so we progressed onward. more country and more crap. a crowded dj booth is so much fun to work through. me: a human pinball. must be nice to have friends.

second dance set was interesting. haven't heard Arrested Development in awhile. but other than that it was mostly same old stuff the kids like. personally i'm getting a little too jaded, Get Low is just not doin it for me anymore, and Yeah is gettin on my nerves. need to go shopping soon. some of the new stuff thats out might work but it keeps getting too slow and too old by the time we get it.
the hot legs contest was the high point of the night - one young lady decided that her belt was a good skirt. must have been a good idea, since she took first place. one almost disqualified for showing a bit too much. i've seen smaller thongs (but not often) and when she pulled the mini-skirt back up it bunched up and the thong went down. good thing she goes to the gym and brazilian waxed.
after that it was time for some oldies, then more country, a fight, and a bunch of people leaving too early. i went a smidgen old school with the set after 2am. havent had the chance to play like that in awhile. it was fun for a change. then of course the party pooper struck again and it was closing early time. screw it.
lets hope we survive the weekend. need to eat my wheaties. bleh.

Thursday, July 21, 2005

"i'm not having a good time, so i'll kill it for everyone"

whiney bartenders and managers. thats all i got to say about that.

hi!.. how you been?. me?.. the same. thats about it.

Thursday, July 14, 2005

i'm not sure what that was...but it was okay.

people are capable of performing the most amazing things. drain line for the air conditioning filling up a light fixture? let's open a corner of the plastic and not put a container under to catch the water in a room full of electrical equipment. even better let's turn on the light. brains.

other than that, not a bad night considering they didnt get paid till midnight. pool tournament was okay, wet t-shirt wasnt too bad either. no fights in the crowd and most everyone had a good time... some better than others.

lets see how tomorrow works out.

Sunday, July 10, 2005

so?

blah blah blah.. the club was open.

we can only hope for a nice debilitating illness that lasts for a few years.

other than that, things are pretty much the same.

job hunting sucks - havent had to in almost 10 years.

Tuesday, July 05, 2005

off topic?

had a pretty decent 4th of july. grilled, chilled, loud bright things, couple of friends over, and no work. nice. experimented with new bbq grill (plain old 55 gal. drum type - i could cook a whole critter) used of of those new-fangled beer can chicken racks but instead of beer i used a margarita wine cooler. left it on grill for 5 hours and it didnt dry out. still moist and dripping and EXTREMLY tender. saving it for lunch. sausage was okay but not great, but thats what i get for buying it on sale, and the other chicken breasts i cooked came out really good too. i'm thinkin about buying a few more can racks like that and seeing how many birds i can cook at once. also did some veggies on skewers - mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, and grilled zuchinni. yum.
other than that it was your normal 4th of july - we only set the grass on fire a few times.

"Should I Stay or Should I Go?"

Should I Stay Or Should I Go

www.theclashonline.com

Darling you gotta let me know
Should I stay or should I go?
If you say that you are mine
I'll be here 'til the end of time
So you got to let know
Should I stay or should I go?
Always tease tease tease
Siempre - coqetiando y enganyando
You're happy when I'm on my knees
Me arrodilla y estas feliz
One day is fine, next is black
Un dias bien el otro negro
So if you want me off your back
Al rededar en tu espalda
Well come on and let me know
Me tienes que desir
Should I Stay or should I go?
Me debo ir o que darme
Should I stay or should I go now?
Should I stay or should I go now?
If I go there will be trouble
An' if I stay it will be double
So come on and let me know
This indecision's bugging me
Esta undecision me molesta
If you don't want me, set me free
Si no me quieres, librame
Exactly who'm I'm supposed to be
Diga me que tengo ser
Don't you know which clothes even fit me?
¨Saves que robas me querda?
Come on and let me know
Me tienes que desir
Should I cool it or should I blow?
¨Me debo ir o quedarme?
Should I stay or should I go now?
¨Yo me frio o lo sophlo?
If I go there will be trouble

SHIT!

yeah. you guessed it. he's back.

it started thursday night - we were already getting depressed cause we knew he'd be back on friday. more on that later.

wednesday was yet another landmark night at wild country - a 74 year old grandmother won the wet t-shirt contest. 500 people chanting GRANDMA!... sad. other than that it was a good contest. we still managed to have fun the rest of the night, and had a decent amount of people at the end of the night.

thursday had its good points and bad. we had a damn good legs contest. some really nice legs out there. glad they shaved. the bad points would have been any other time during the night almost. i ran into a wall of tired around 11:45 and just couldnt wake up no matter how hard i tried. even after energy drinks and diet pills that were mostly caffiene i just couldnt get it together.

friday. the return of the dick. he's back and he's NOT mellowed out from his vacation. if i had almost two weeks vacation to chill with i'd probably come back pretty relaxed. but of course as the night wore on (and i do mean wore...) he just HAD to screw it up for everybody. i just dont get it. really. if everyone in the building is having a good time and you think to yourself "Gee, that's about enough of that. I wouldn't want people to have too much fun!" there might be a problem.

Anal? if he swallowed an I-beam, he'd shit fine gauge wire.

gotta rest up for tonight. i'm gonna need the sleep so i can fight to stay awake.

SHOUT!

wednesday was fun.
thursday was a blast.
friday was kick ass.
saturday - we took them to church!
night started out fun, everyone in a good mood, ready to party. first dance set was pretty good, me and tim already feeling it. back into the country music and we still had them dancing along. midnight rolled around, and it was game on. floor pretty much stayed packed up until he played "7" to close out the set, just to be stupid - because sometimes.. ya just gotta. we got back in on the country music and then watched the floor just keep gettin better and better. didnt really let up even with the fast country that they cant really keep up with unless they really know how to dance. then we rocked it up: "Sweet Home Alabama", "Takin' Care of Business", "Love Shack", "Louie, Louie","Jail House Rock", "The Twist" remix, "Rockin Robin"... all those and a few others.. but when we played "Shout!"... WOW!!! first time i can remember when we played the whole thing through, but it was so worth it. the entire dance floor was packed, and almost everyone all around the building was throwing their hands up and shouting and singing along. it looked like an old time gospel meeting for a little while. it was just plain beautiful.
so we moved on to last call, and then more country till about 2:05, then it was play time again. it was a really good set, and probably did more advertising for the club and having a good party than 2 months worth of radio spots.
not that there werent a couple of shakey spots during the night; 1 fight at the back bar, and one guy gettin sucker punched on the dance floor, a little bit of internal club issues but nothing really dragging the party down, and that was about it. about the normal stuff you would expect for a saturday night when it was busy.
i just plain havent had that much fun at work in years. (gee, i wonder why)
sunday - slow, but still fun for me. kinda one of those comedy nights that gives you a reason to smile.
we're gonna see what wednesday is like. probably gonna be fun. one way or another...

happy employees = kick ass thursday

best thursday night in i cant remember how long.

everyone walked in in a good mood. still started slow but by the middle of the night it looked like a slow saturday. they did kinda piss us off early but made up for it later. the hot legs contest was pretty good this week - had a tie between first and second place. after the contest the main part of the crowd usually takes off cause they gotta work in the morning, but not this time. we had a really good sized crowd in the building after 2. dance set was pretty basic vanilla for a little while. then it was time for music we liked. (insert evil laugh here)

only spoiler was the idjits fightin afterwards. buzzkills. oh well.. its a payday weekend. time to go rest up and then eat my wheaties. tonight's gonna hurt in such a good way. i hope.

Thursday, June 16, 2005

PARTY!!!!

NO LARRY FOR A WEEK AND A HALF!!!!

wow.. this is gonna be good. last night was, and tonight might even make me want to play good music on a thursday. shocking.

so anyway. last weekend kinda off between paydays but still okay. last night more fun than a barrel of kittens on crack

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!

now accepting contributions to the vacation fund

if i cant wake up on a saturday, then its DEFINITLY time for a vacation.

other than that it was a pretty good saturday night. usual slow evening startup, then in they came. crowd size was pretty good. could have squeezed in another 100-150, but probably good we didnt. and with only the normal amount of standard stupidity, things pretty much rolled along til after 12:30. then of course mr. party pooper decided to put his 2 cents in. shmuck. that's all i need - to spend the rest of the night in a cramped space with a large pissed off cranky dj. oh... wait. i do that every weekend.. nev mind.

anyway, keepin the party rolling wasnt too difficult - they seemed to enjoy that little thing we do now around 1:30. the only reason we didnt have as many people on the floor as the midnight set was cause we didnt have a bigger dance floor. it was kinda fun. wish i'd been awake for it.

time for the sunday wind down. maybe i'll get surprised and have someone in the building... but i wont hold my breath.

Saturday, June 04, 2005

slow, slow, slow....busy, Busy, BUSY

thats how it went: drag ass start up... then the place just plain blew up and it felt like it kept getting busier as the night went on. between summer, rodeo, and the storm that blew through we shouldnt have been surprised. so we muddled through till we woke up and did we ever, well one of us did anyway. no fights that i could see in the building, even though we did have some cranky people at one point. and only the usual amount of stupid in the club.

speaking of stupid - when i ask for your I.D. cause i see you drinking with great big permanant ink marks on the back of your hand, DONT give me the one with the scratched up, altered, and barely legible military i.d. card with the hand covered with black ink and tell me you're 21. while its not surprising sometimes that they're gonna try it, at least use some intelligence when you do it. and if you get caught - own up to it. you screwed up, you take the blame. besides... ITS A FELONY YOU DUMBASS!

almost enough to make me start drinkin again... almost

tales from the crypt?...

thats what it felt like starting out tonight. a graveyard. i know its summer and it always starts out slow as soon as the weather gets hot, because everyone has all that nice cheerful outdoorsy kind of stuff they do, but that was ridiculous. hardly anyone in the building til after 10pm, and the place didnt start having any kind of energy till late. worse than that, i couldnt wake up for anything - energy drinks, super caffienated drinks and diet pills, and i still couldnt hardly keep my eyes open. the only reason i woke up late was cause "mr. party pooper" decided to kill the party soon as it started. when most of your building is on the dance floor, that is NOT the time to kill the set. he must have learned his management skills from helen keller.

i'm cranky. goin to bed... or something

Thursday, June 02, 2005

summer time?

happens every year - weather gets warmer, crowd shows up later.

didnt really get busy till after 11pm, then we had a good sized pool tourny, but had to beg, plead, and cajole for the wet t-shirt contest. it didnt even start till after 1am. other than the pushing and shoving match that started up during the contest it was an okay night. just gotta remind myself to clock in early from now on...

long day tomorrow, time to sleep. later

Tuesday, May 31, 2005

sunday?... SUNDAY!

my my what a pleasent surprise.
started slow, then whoosh... there they were. i turned around and all of a sudden there were people there. pretty decent for a sunday. we would have had more but the weather didnt exactly co-operate with us. nifty little storms rolled through. it was a nice enough behaved crowd other than the minor's being their usual selves. at least till after 2 - then we had a scuffle in the parking lot.

hope everyone had a good memorial day, time to recover and get ready for the coming week.

Sunday, May 29, 2005

wakey wakey... eggs and bakey!

definitely a saturday.

once again we didnt wake up till around 1am. just no energy till that late in the evening. we gotta get out of that rut somehow. not that its not great after that, it just kicks ass, but until then we gotta struggle to keep ourselves awake and not put the building to sleep.

anyway, still a slow start-up, with all the graduations going on, and the holiday travelers. i played alot of oddball stuff before 9pm just cause i could, and it was that slow that it didnt matter. even by 10pm it was still like that. but after 11, things were picking up. so other than the usual stupid requests it was pretty much like a saturday night, just slower.

stupid requests?...

yeah... there is such a thing. but try to convince the manager of that. guess that's why he gets paid to be a figurehead. your song might be really nice to you, just inmportant as all get out.. but that doesnt mean we're gonna play it.

Saturday, May 28, 2005

see last post...

some people never learn.

anyway, last night was slower than normal for a friday - high school graduation for area schools combined with holiday weekend. but it was still a friday. no fights or anything, just drama. i pretty much played it a bit low key for friday, but still managed to distract self for awhile.

tonight needs to be better, in more ways than one, and with any luck it might be. we'll see.

not much else to talk about right now other than the weather, and it's changing all the time so why bother.

later kids

being there

not always enough to just be there. you have to be all there and semi- focused.

started off as a typical thursday night with everyone trickling in throughout the night. it only took me an hour and a half to piss off the manager. he needs a personality/sense of humor transplant desperatly (now taking donations for that). crowd wise same old story - they'd either dance or not. we did manage to have the contest and pool tourny and even stayed open till almost 3. so i guess tonight was a "good" night?

time for the mini lecture.

"How to Compartmentalize Emotions and Events To Ensure A Good Evening of Entertainment"
shut it in a box and bury it deep, dont let it affect the way you have to keep a building full of people entertained. just swallow it down or channel it if you have to. sure you'll feel like hell for doing it. you'll have a hard knot in the middle of your gut that feels like its gonna burn its way through, or make you puke. but, you have a job to do and you CANT let it show. no matter how much you feel like screaming out in the middle of it all. wait till you're home before you have a breakdown. make those acting lessons pay off. close your eyes, take a deep deep breath, envision the pain and the problem as a ball and shut it in a box then shove it into a back corner of your mind. let it out when you have the time after the job is done.

who needs therapy when you have sleep deprivation and caffiene.

see ya tomorrow kids.

Thursday, May 26, 2005

just another night when i dont wake up till after 1am

so there i was... falling asleep at the wheel ( cd player - wheel.. same diff), when all of a sudden the wet t-shirt contest was over and i was wide awake. fun fun party party. lets see if we do any better tomorrow. its a four day weekend and they get paid sat. night.

things to do tomorrow - 1. wake up
2. wake up some more
3. stay awake!

i get all three of those done and we might just survive.

Monday, May 23, 2005

sunday sunday sunday....

yeah, it sucked.

wednesday through saturday were pretty good though. we even managed to have a legs contest on thursday! first time for everything. friday and saturday were pretty much typical weekend nights, excepting the new and improved internal b.s., and went off pretty much without major problems.

now for a mini-rant: rules like "employees dont get to make requests" are really great. they're even better when they are followed. i could give a rats ass if a bartender is cranky that i didnt play their songs. i'm not there for them, i'm there for the people in the club trying to have a good time. leave your drama and sob story at home - i just dont give a rats ass.

time to go make the donuts.

Saturday, May 21, 2005

its a new record. almost a month

its been good, its been bad. its been stressfull occasionally. but with any luck i'm back doing this on a mostly regular basis.

feel ya in later.

(hopefully it will be less than a month)

Thursday, April 28, 2005

i been sick y'all.. and busy.. and tired... and ....

no. really. i have been. anyway, long story short - i'll try to keep up with this thing, but i aint been doin so well the last two weeks. business aint been to bad. weekends still good even with the army having block leave. but its almost over. bring on the drunks.

looks like we're gonna be changing thursdays for the better, but we'll hold our breath for another week before we see if its gonna work.

see ya later, i hope .. and if i remember!

Sunday, April 10, 2005

almost, but not quite

fridays' escapades were almost exciting. almost. i wasnt quite sure what to make of it. sure the night pretty much went off without a hitch, but it just didnt feel like a friday. more like a wednesday with an attitude. still, i cant complain much cause it was still good.

saturday, on the other hand, was more like it. better than last week for size of crowd even though they didnt behave as much. only two incidents, and those were handled quick enough to not distract the rest of the customers.

time to digress. flashing the dj: while it is appreciated, if we aint gonna get to play with them or if they arent spectacular... dont bother. we've been there and done that long enough for us to get that jaded.

gotta get ready for sunday - i'm bringin a book.

Friday, April 08, 2005

wednesday & thursday - let up.. let down

for us wednesday is our monday: the first day of the work week. sometimes its not that bad, sometimes it is. this past wednesday was kinda okay, no real complaints per se, but it had its moments. when i leave work feeling okay then i call it a good night. pool tourny was good, wet t-shirt contest wasnt too traumatic, and the crowd behaved. party on.

thursday of course sucked donkey balls

lets see what happens on friday...

Monday, April 04, 2005

and a fun time was had by all. most of the week

lets see, there was wednesday - wet t-shirt, pool tourney, dancing, drunk people. and then thursday was our anniversary party - dont want to talk about it. friday and saturday were odd. not as busy as it could have been, but we still managed to have fun. biggest news of late has been that big daddy tim is back. am of two minds about it, but do appreciate his being back.
really tired after this week tho. dont know why.

Saturday, April 02, 2005

a whole week...

yeah, i know. i procrastinate. so what.

been a little busy, had the anniversary party, had a really good night after that to make up for it. will fill that blank in later.

tired. gonna get some rest.

Thursday, March 24, 2005

from elation to deflation

from a saturday that kicked some serious ass.. to a sunday that makes you want to quit.
sunday wasnt bad people wise. we actually had a decent sized crowd. the only problem was management showing its testicles.

and so i get to work on sunday, and lo and behold.. guess who's back to work starting thursday night.

cross your fingers kids...

Sunday, March 20, 2005

spank me again daddy!!!

a line at 8pm... that was the tone for tonight. got busy early, and stayed busy. had the usual number of oddball requests too. not the least of which was one weird little puppy who wanted me to play "stayin alive" at 830. blow that. i like my paycheck, thank you very much.
anyway, the only scuffle we had tonight was after 1, and the rest of the night was just plain fun.

hadnt seen a conga line in quite awhile on the dance floor...

2:00am and the the bar is still packed.
2:30am and the dance floor is jumpin.
2:45am and the dance floor is still packed
2:50am "My minds' tellin' me "no". But my body. My body's tellin' me yes..." damn skippy.

this keeps up and i'm gonna end up with another raise...

Saturday, March 19, 2005

this is how we do...

wow. where to start. this week has been one long drawn out ass kicker. no days off. not enough sleep? so what else is new.

wednesday - 700+ crowd. 1st cav done come out to play after getting back from iraq. no fights, which is on the plus side, but they was rowdy. we did have the wet t-shirt contest, but i dont want the way it went down to happen again. talk about giving me a headache.

thursday - why?... why do they have to come out when i feel like crap and dont want to be there? oh well. managed to stay open till 3, so that was allright for a change.

friday - @$%%^@!!!! a hair slower cause of the concert, but still good. up until about 1.

How To Make An Enemy - piss the dj off by going whining to the manager or owner cause i dont want to play your piece of shit song. hmm.. that cd needs to be turned into glitter..

but i digress...

Friday, March 11, 2005

respiratory distress (dj+allergies+smoke= no lungs)

wednesday - not that busy, but was okay. kept hacking up chunks of lung butter cause my allergies are kickin my ass. pool tourny was okay, wet t-shirt... 6 shirts. i'm not the one responsible for getting them cleaned and back in the club after the contest. but thats okay. i dont care either way. ahhh, medication.
thursday was worse. medicine head all night, with that lovely spacey feeling. would have been nice if i had felt better, we actually had a halfway decent crowd for a thursday night. and it really sucks when you mix better than you normally do, and there's not enough of a crowd to appreciate it.

tonight should be interesting. payday weekend. troops coming back still. FRIDAY

Sunday, March 06, 2005

saturday

note to self: you are too tired to be at work if you have 4 cigarettes lit at the same time and realize you have the original one still in your hand.

typical saturday start-up, slow at first then they come flooding in, just not as bad as last weekend. things were going okay up until they just wouldnt leave me alone while i was trying to mix the second dance set. hard to concentrate on things like that. just let me work and leave me alone.

other than that, we had an okay night. of course an okay night for us translates to a night better than most clubs entire weekend.

vacation... i want one.

Saturday, March 05, 2005

that was nice, lets do it again.

mmmm....friday...

wow. other than an attack of the stupids by a bunch of minors and one sort-of fight, tonight was fun. like last week but without the same number of fights. the only real downside was the way i felt, but i managed to work my way through. if we can keep this up, things is gonna get good. and about these minors - want a drink? get it elsewhere. we check your ID's and mark your hands for a reason. and that reason is to stay in business so you can come out and act stupid, get laid, dance, etc... keep up the stupid crap, and you wont have a place to go.

thursday was ... nevermind

wednesday started off a little slow, but picked up okay. managed to have a wet t-shirt contest, not that it didnt have its issues, and it was a normal wednesday until after 2 when some cranky people decided to start some crap at the front bar. here's a clue - if the bar is closed... go home. dont stay and hang around for a fight.

Sunday, February 27, 2005

4 floormen, "capacity" crowd",payday saturday night = CLEAN UP!

so we begin with a typical start up on a saturday night: a little slow at first while everyone is on their saturday night date, and just a nice mellow crowd dancing, saying hi to each other and drinking. then the flood gates opened wide. by 11:00 it was getting difficult to move in the building, by 11:30 it was a pain in the ass to get to the bathroom. they kept coming in, and i was really surprised that we didnt see the fire marshall in the building tonight. so with that size crowd, we had a problem. when you only have 4 floormen and 1 guy on the door.. you're kinda out numbered. BIG TIME. and we only had that 4th floorman cause one of the ex employees offered to help out. (Props to J.D. - we needed ya!) a lot of guys keyed up from being in the line of fire and in a high stress environment, guys who haven't been back in the states for more than a day or two in many cases, came out to party... not end up in a fight. there were some hurt feelin's tonight, and our floormen that were there EARNED their pay tonight. we were just lucky that it wasnt worse than what it was.

now with that being said.. all other things considered... that was a kick ass night! people were dancing their asses off all night long. and even when i played bad music on purpose to get them off the floor to buy beer.. they kept dancing! makes me wish i had had video of the night. all we gotta do now is turn the rest of the week into nights like that.. without the B.S. of course.

y'all come back now.. ya hear?

Saturday, February 26, 2005

YES!!!

this is me doin' my happy dance! lumpy the wonder turd quit tonight!

talk about putting me in a good mood for the rest of the night. it was definitly a friday night. good sized crowd with long lines to get in, lots of dancing, dj kid in the house mixing (special guests are always a good thing when you're lazy), and no stupidity till after most of the night was gone and done. the only thing that really sucked about tonight was one hellacious headache that 6 tylenol couldnt touch. and i still managed to have fun with all that goin on... yep.. sure did.

who's yo' daddy?...

Thursday, February 24, 2005

what the heck was that?

tonight started off so-so, and then we had a steady influx of people pretty much all night until around 12:ish. first dance set was a decent waste of time and a lesson to little miss thing who might just finally realize why we dont play rock and roll to dance to. kinda looked stupid out there by yourself didnt ya? so the night progressed with the usual dancing, pool tournament, and then, lo and behold - no wet t-shirt contest. just one of those nights where they just wouldnt sign up. oh well. made the dance set longer and tried to keep them distracted enough to stay in the building. most of them did so no problem. we still had a good 250-300 when we closed, so that was a good sign. now if we can just get thursdays back to normal...

but i dont think i'll hold my breath. or will i? 12,000+ troops coming back in the next 6 weeks... THEY NEED BEER!!!

Tuesday, February 22, 2005

time to start another week

well.. that wasnt so bad. the weekend in review -
friday was a little bit busy, but i was cranky.. one of those low grade make you cranky headaches all night long. still managed to have some fun. and those were some lovely piercings as well.
saturday was a bit better after people started showing up. had a later crowd, but ended up okay until after 1:30. gotta get better at keeping them in the building later.
sunday. sunday was odd. i know it was a four day weekend and all, and we did have a pretty good sized crowd, but it still felt like a sunday. i was just in that kind of mood.

time to get ready again.. lots of guys getting off the airplane this week. this oughta be good. 12,000+ troops getting back in the next few months. and they REALLY need a drink...

Friday, February 18, 2005

and yet another 4 day weekend...

wednesday - should have had more people in the building but it was okay. still had wet t-thirt and pool tourny, and managed to keep goin for awhile after. dont know how i didnt chase everyone out, cause i was cranky. just in a really bitchy mood. and didnt know why
thursday - much better than the last few. i cant remember the last time we stayed open till 3 on a thursday. was actually kinda fun. lets hope it stays this way and we can get things back to normal.

goober boy is just not cuttin it. went home before 10 cause "his foot hurt." like its a really physically demanding job. hope he dont quit his day job...

Monday, February 14, 2005

?

so what else is new...
not much change since last post. still need to convince them that the new guy hasnt got a clue, still need some decent rest (or maybe not - i do alot of my best work when i'm really tired) but i dont see it happening. thursday was sad.. as usual. friday was okay, saturday was about the same. and sunday was the same piece of crap it always was.

Friday, February 11, 2005

another day... another nap

wow, i so need to get some self-discipline going on here. that and get everything done around here so i have time to do this.

when was the last time i posted anyway?
wednesday - slower than expected but we still had pool tournament, and wet t-shirt contest. no fights that i could see, and no major problems other than them being broke till this weekend.
thursday - little better than last week, but not by much. we're closing way too early on thursdays, and i've yet to be able to convince them that they need to do something about it and soon.
and in the continuing saga of the boy who would be dj... he just doesnt get it. period... end of story.

Saturday, February 05, 2005

BE AFRAID... BE VERY VERY AFRAID

ah yes. it feels so good to be back in the world again. we've finally finished the move, gotten some much needed sleep, and gotten some much needed something else. hehehe

so work had pretty much been the same since last i posted on here: friday and saturday we own the town, wednesday's are still pretty good, and thursdays still suck. havent had much fighting as of late, but i suppose it will pick up again after some of the other units come back from iraq and find out who was sleeping with who.

other than that, had a traditional "manager / dj difference of opinion" (us yelling at each other for half an hour after 1am.. and again after 3) end result - i win either way.

sidebar - hey bro?... i dont hate you. you're still my brother. but i hate what you're doing to yourself. nothin but love.

so anyway kids.. we're back in the swing of things. see ya

Thursday, January 27, 2005

not taking a break.. making a move

been a little pre-occupied. moving to a new house, and putting up with all the stress of a move, plus the cranky current landlord, and work. will be back in the swing of things by next week with any luck. hou$ewarming gift$?... i thought you'd never a$k. cash is always the best housewarming gift. like i need another candle set, or something pretty and useless to hang on the wall. hehehehe

later kids.

Friday, January 21, 2005

call me mr. cheerful

due to reasons beyond my control.. the part of me will be played by a zombie.

most of the time i can make sleep deprivation work for me at the club. fatigue poisons can make you jumpy and give you all kinds of last minute energy that combined with the caffiene, can turn you into a wired up little happy camper. not so when the cumulative amount of sleep you've gotten in the last week equals about 24 hours. and none of it was un-interrupted. many countrys' use this as and interrogation/torture tactic. its not conducive to good workplace performance. other than that:
wednesday - kinda blah. didnt even have a wet t-shirt, but we had a full pool tourney. and apparently after the cranky switch was flipped around 1:15 it was fight time.
thursday - like you have to ask.

cross your fingers. gonna try to get some real sleep tonight.

Tuesday, January 18, 2005

fun and games

the weekend in review (more or less)

friday started out kinda busy.. and just got busier as the night went on. the first 2 hours were pretty good, crowd trickled in kinda steady. i looked up and found myself wondering where all these people had come from. got through the first dance set, and right after that, it seemed like in that 20 minutes, a few hundred people had walked in. they were in a dancing mood, and just kept moving on the floor. second set was kinda spiffy - rail to rail people. now the third set after 2, i was kinda feelin it... when i stopped to play some slow songs at the end of the night there were a hell of a lot of people still in the building. and when finished off the night with purple rain, there were at least 2-250 people on the dance floor alone, and a lot around the dance floor waiting on their friends, rides, etc... and that my friends is how you make a dj smile!

saturday, also known as "no-sleep" day, started out about the same, but a bit slower. picked up big time later in the evening after the first dance set. and sometime between 1050 and 11, it looked like 500 people had walked in the building. they packed in real fast. so we got through the night without too much incident, and i managed to get into a dance set and around the end of it , i was so tired i couldnt see the numbers on the cd player, but we still had about 250 people in the building.

sunday - still didnt get much sleep, but it was a 4 day weekend, and we ended up with a pretty good sized crowd @ 500 people give or take. it would have been alot of fun if i had been awake for it. as it was i pretty much dragged ass all through the night. fun and games.

well with any luck, i'll be able to get more sleep this week and then we'll see if i can keep up the same pace until sunday. peace, love, and hair grease.

Friday, January 14, 2005

i dont care ... it was still a thursday

yeah, we had a better than normal crowd (except for the cranky people, me included) but still, there was too much going on for me to enjoy any of it.
we started the night okay, up until the first set, then i started getting cranky. (dont say you can if you cant... JACKASS!) so after i shove in and start playing we got a decent crowd reaction, and were able to move along. things went okay for awhile after that ("i will hide that cd if you pull it out again!") then it was time to play another set of booty shaking stuff. color me deaf. even i thought it sucked. and i was playing it. then people decided to get stupid. 4 fights after 1:00 and then they made big daddy cranky ... he said i could only play a 10-15 min set. fine.. be that way.

rick james... bitch!

tomorrow.. they better not piss me off. now if you'll excuse me.. i've got some unwinding to do.

is this how it was like 5 years ago?

too tired for much tonight. might add more tomorrow if i wake up for it.

if you manage a club and you need to hire a new dj - make sure the one you have can work with him.. and double check his references... and listen to him talk! you would have thought these things would be obvious.. but nooo. we get to do it the hard way.
screw it.. i'm goin ta bed.

WHO'S YO DADDY!!!

you'll have to excuse me while i laugh like a maniac. the last two nights were that good. the crowd behaved themselves, had fun, danced all night, and just plain made me feel good. call me a parasite - but i live off of their energy in a feedback loop. if i feel it, i feel it, then they feel it... and so on.

friday - they started dancing early and STAYED on the dance floor. packed floor for country and dance is a GOOD thing. had a little break during the night, when someone came up to the booth and gave us a nice little flashback and mixed it up for the set. the rest of the night was the same until 3am. lots of people in a mood to dance, and they sure did. closed the night out with some mickey gilley (stand by me). i went home thinking saturday night wouldnt be as good as friday... i was wrong.

saturday - well, i have a back-up in the booth now. we'll see how he does after a couple weeks. really gonna have to work on his voice first and foremost. so the night started out typical saturday slow, people coming in all through the night. first dance set was okay but no big deal.. but they seemed to like it. played lots of country that i guess they were in the mood for, because i hadnt seen that many people dance to it like that in awhile. second set rolled around, and wow but i got caught short on time - didnt play as much as i had wanted to, but did have alot of people on the floor dancin. after the dance set was over, i started gettin that twitchy feeling that they were gonna start at least one fight tonight. i guess i kept them distracted enough not to. last set of the night was.. um.. whats the word i'm looking for... oh yeah: DAAAAMN.... hehehehehehe

and now a quick reminder - drunk driving is gonna happen no matter how much we try to prevent it. BUT DO YOU FREAKIN THINK YOU CAN REMEMBER THAT YOU MIGHT NOT BE THE ONE TO GET HURT? we had yet another person get hit crossing the street. so far as i know at this time she's still alive... but after seeing the windshield of the car that hit her, i wouldnt be surprised if she wasnt. and yeah, the driver left in handcuffs.

sunday better be a good chill night. i need the break, for real.

"hello children. how are all my little crackers today?"

thursdays - back to normal. was nice having a 2 week respite from what they were like before the holidays. ah for the good old days.

SOAPBOX TIME - i like it when people make requests, i really do. it lets me know what people want to listen to, and it lets me interact with the people in the building a little more. if they're new to the club, and they ask for a really good song or a song i think the rest of the building will dance to, i do try to get their request out for them - its just good customer relations. BUT...if you want to ask me for a song... ask once. don't keep asking every 15 minutes, dont send your friends up to ask for the same song, and then call me rude cause i dont play it right away. we hereby invoke the 15 minute rule - "ask more than once for a song - and it will get played 15 minutes later than i was going to have played it " making the dj cranky is never a good way to hear your song. are we clear?

until next time, lean back and enjoy the world, close your eyes and listen to the music.

ah yes. back to the grind.

first wednesday of the new year. we'll see how it goes.

new years was fun, really exhausting, but fun. tried to do 'em good for the midnight toast, and apparently succeeded. other than that, it was a really well behaved crowd for new years.

saturday and sunday however, were just plain weird. not a big huge crowd on saturday, but they had fun. and sunday night - i had forgotten it was a 4 day holiday for the army... sunday was GOOD! havent had that much fun on a sunday night in a long time.

time to get ready for tonight. we'll let ya know how it goes.
