yeah, yeah, i know... lazy me.

July already and half the year has gone by.  Not entirely sure what to even write about at this point, or even if I should put down some things that have been bothering me.  It can be really difficult to decide what to put in these blogs sometimes because you really never know who is actually reading them (other than spam bots looking for keywords) so I guess for those in the know its a question of reading between the lines for what is unsaid.  Here goes.

(20 minutes of typing later and i just deleted the whole thing.  yeah. kinda went off on a rant and figured i needed the paycheck.)

Club is still going.  Personal life is still happening.  Grey hair is still popping out.  And my old age is showing:  music these days is starting to sound dumber than ever.
"Dubstep".   99.9% of it is un-danceable garbage, and the rest i can't get ANY customers to dance to.  it just ain't happening.
"hip-hop/rap"  most of what they are describing as hip-hop or rap these days is unrecognizable compared to hip-hop and rap from the 80's or 90's.  most of the newer stuff is not "floor-filler" material until it's been remixed to death.
Country.  to quote a Travis Tritt song title:  "Country Ain't Country No More".  some of it has started doing like the rap of the early 2000's - slower songs with no real energy.  regional influences are affecting things too - Zac Brown being a big example.  backwoods Georgia tunes on Nashville-type stations..."Texas Country" is so mainstream country sounding now that when a customer comes up and asks if i have any, there are times when i just want to say "No, I just have country."

Can't beat sense into some people... but you can make em dance!

things to look for: new LED's, blacklights, VirtualDJ, and new TV's

yeah, a few upgrades.  still got video issues but not as bad.  waiting with everyone else in the Virtual DJ community for version 8 to drop on us.   got a sneak preview earlier this year and all i can say is "WOW!"

Nap time.  getting tired, so gonna stop.  hopefully it won't be too long between posts this time..

it's not procrastination - i just keep forgetting.

been an interesting week:
wednesday it was packed - holiday weekend packed - and we ended up staying open til 3 like it was a weekend. would've been great if i still wasn't sick from monday and tuesday, but it was so busy it took my mind off of it.
thursday was busier than usual and actually kinda fun for a change. people came out to have a good time and dance and they did.
friday was the oddball night. really. not a single request till after 11pm and then even after that nowhere near what i usually get on friday nights. giving away the big screen tv took a bit but after that it was like they were only gonna stay for a few drinks then go. hard to keep them in if they're saving up for saturday.
saturday - st. patricks day - slow start up then steady flood in the door that stayed till late and got really really drunk.

not saying everything went smoothly but at the end of the night on saturday i actually felt good about work for a change.

now if i could just get these damn video issues fixed with the computer and software then i could really relax a bit more at work instead of watch it like a hawk everytime i gotta load a song or video. hellooo geek squad?

Hoping it doesn't get as bad as last time when gas jumped up close to $4 a gallon , but they're predicting $5 a gallon before the end of summer. we' ll have to
wait and see.
we're doing good for the most part. price of gas already having an effect - less cash for them to spend is making for slower starts, but they still show up.
So some changes have been made... New paint, chairs, wall art, 13 plasma screens, and we finally made the jump to VDJ 7. Still going through growing pains but
