not always enough to just be there. you have to be all there and semi- focused.
started off as a typical thursday night with everyone trickling in throughout the night. it only took me an hour and a half to piss off the manager. he needs a personality/sense of humor transplant desperatly (now taking donations for that). crowd wise same old story - they'd either dance or not. we did manage to have the contest and pool tourny and even stayed open till almost 3. so i guess tonight was a "good" night?
time for the mini lecture.
"How to Compartmentalize Emotions and Events To Ensure A Good Evening of Entertainment"
shut it in a box and bury it deep, dont let it affect the way you have to keep a building full of people entertained. just swallow it down or channel it if you have to. sure you'll feel like hell for doing it. you'll have a hard knot in the middle of your gut that feels like its gonna burn its way through, or make you puke. but, you have a job to do and you CANT let it show. no matter how much you feel like screaming out in the middle of it all. wait till you're home before you have a breakdown. make those acting lessons pay off. close your eyes, take a deep deep breath, envision the pain and the problem as a ball and shut it in a box then shove it into a back corner of your mind. let it out when you have the time after the job is done.
who needs therapy when you have sleep deprivation and caffiene.
see ya tomorrow kids.
